All spring Appalachian Seed Company has been providing us with the finest organic starter plants available. Now is the time to get your tomato plants together. We have up to 15 varieties of heirloom tomatoes available, everything from tiny little cherry tomatoes to 2lb Radiator Charlies. New ideas from the deli include weekly focus on various street foods from around the globe. These will apear on the Friday lunch menu in the future. This Friday we will focus on the Korean street cart and offer Duk Bok Ki with sweet chili sauce, rice and a side of house made kim chee. We hope to include flavors from Portugal, Spain, Mongolia, Vietnam, New York, Honduras and the Caribbean. Be sure to respond to blogged features and let us know what your favorite street food is.
It’s refreshing to see more celebrities involved in one of the most important things we can protect–wholesome food for our families from local family farms. Dave Matthews often speaks on behalf of Farm Aid, a nonprofit organization with a mission to keep family farmers in business and on their land. Farm Aid accomplishes this mission with help from friends like Neil Young, Willie Nelson, John Mellencamp and Wilco. The message is simple: “We know that to keep family farmers on the land we have to increase the number of people buying their good food.” Appalachian Seed Co. provides us with high quality oraganic starter plants. All sorts of plants will be available. Lots of heirloom tomatoes, squash, onions, herbs, greens, and even asparagus! Look for these plants starting wednesday 3-24. |
